EverQuest 2 Senior Producer Bruce Ferguson and Design Supervisor Noel Walling discuss some of the finer points of the game's latest expansion, The Shadow Odyssey. These devs de-tangle some misconceptions about storyline tie-ins and the possible performance hit of the so-called snap-on armor used by many of the TSO trash mobs, discuss tradeskill enhancements and the all-new mission system, and end the interview with a look at the challenges and future of EQ2. Have a look! So is snap-on armor a step backwards in terms of performance? According to Bruce, no. "We designed the armor to have the availability for us to apply certain textures or certain addons to them of a very limited set, but they're substantial enough to significantly change the appearance visually without impacting the amount of textures that we'd have to load and do a lot of extra vertex stuff on the client side."
